ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: The wear of a cutting tool in a variable compound stratum is one of the tough problems encountered during the process of shield construction. Based on the shield tunnels built in the Line 1 phase 1 project of the NanNing Rail Transit, a section from the MinZu University Station to the QingChuan Station, first, the tool configuration and wear condition of the earth pressure balance shield machine in a variable compound stratum is analyzed. Second, the wear condition of tools is discussed through the analysis of data collected from the field. Third, advice is provided to avoid the cutter wear problem. Finally, conclusions are drawn based on the results of the analysis, which indicate that the given tool has satisfied the need of the section under study, while disk cutter wear mainly consists of eccentric wear and uniform wear of the cutter ring.
