ABSTRACT

Although the writer of these lines sounds like an ambitious but ordinary woman of the present era who has decided to home-school her child, she actually lived two and a half centuries ago, and she could hardly be described as ordinary. The protagonist of my story is a Hohenzollern, Lovisa Ulrike, sister of Frederick the Great. In 1744, this Prussian princess was married to the elected heir to the Swedish throne, another German prince, Adolf Fredrik of Holstein-Gottorp. Through this marriage, she became crown princess of Sweden and eventually, in 1751, queen of Sweden. The son to whom she refers in the passages would inherit the Swedish throne.
