Now, the name of peace is sweet and the thing itself yet more desirable and more salutary. But there is an enormous difference between peace and servitude. For peace is tranquil liberty and servitude is the worst of all evils, which all free men (according to Cicero) must resist, not only by means of war but even by most sure and certain death.
