ABSTRACT

Whoever deals with the Hegelian Johann Eduard Erdmann, also at some point stumbles upon Kierkegaard’s encounter with him. But, by the same token, whoever deals with Kierkegaard, likewise soon comes across Erdmann. The contemporary relationship is still mirrored in this relationship today. While there seems to be no indication that Erdmann took notice of Kierkegaard, the younger thinker’s interest in the philosopher and historian of religion, Erdmann, is well documented.
