ABSTRACT
Miss GWEN FFRANGCON-DAVIES (who played the name part in ‘Tess’): I shall always remember him as a little, eager figure, full of vitality, with quick, bright eyes and an intense interest in all the details of the production of ‘Tess’. The kindliness and charm with which he put us at our ease, the readiness with which he acquiesced in various suggestions, all showed the simplicity and sympathy of the great man.
