ABSTRACT
CHAPTER 8 Risk Analysis A common, but limited, understanding of project risk analysis is that its purpose is to produce a rank-order list of risks prioritised by importance. The Probability-Impact Matrix (PIM) is a popular technique used for this purpose, with many risk database tools having been designed around its use. However, focusing simply on risk prioritisation results in other important purposes of risk analysis being overlooked.
