ABSTRACT
Archival description is the first area of professional activity in archives to be covered by published general sets of standards and authorities. In this chapter the relevant standards are those set out in MAD2, ISAD(G) and ISAAR(CPF).1 A summary of other standards that are relevant or useful in certain contexts is given at the end of the chapter.
