ABSTRACT
Discussing women and freemasonry, work and freemasonry, let alone women's work in freemasonry in eighteenth-century England may appear as a real challenge. What is indeed meant by masonic work? Is it not preposterous to deal with women in the lodges, places which have always been male strongholds?
