ABSTRACT

November 13th. There is really hardly anything to write about these days. No news comes in & nothing is stirring in the station. Hawashi Effendi & all his people went in the small steamer to Wadelai. The large steamer came in the day before yesterday & brought a good many notes for the Pasha from the faithfuls there. Kodi Aga, the chief of Wadelai station, wrote to Selim Aga begging him to send the Pasha, for the soldiers in the station are getting insubordinate & he cannot manage them, & that unless the Pasha is sent nothing will quiet them. Sulieman Aga has returned from Fabbo & has

brought his wives & children with him. He has been reinstated as chief of Tunguru, but swears he will not go unless the officers allow the Pasha to go with him, so now great discussions are going on about it. He comes in to see the Pasha & tells him he will be certain to get his way in the end, but I doubt it, though the bulk of the officers wish the Pasha to go, the clerks are doing all in their power to prevent it. Fadl el Mulla Aga says he does not object, but he is afraid that the officers down at Muggi will be angry with him, Sulieman Aga, who is his brother by the way, says that the real reason is that he is afraid if the Pasha got into power again he would be one of the first to suffer punishment. ..
