ABSTRACT
In Chapter 2 we saw something of how careers were made and audiences attracted to the discipline of anatomy. Here I want to look at the human corpses that the anatomist used, and at issues of acquisition, preservation, representation and dissemination. In addition I look at some specimen controversies that occurred during the making of new facts in anatomy, to see something of the heat and light that anatomical investigation could produce.
