ABSTRACT

Ottoman trade regime with that of the mercantilist Europe was mainly responsible for "a." It is also shown that the "incorporation" was by no means a single event and that different regions were incorporated at different periods in history, the exact time being determined by the incorporation of the sectors dominating these regions. Generally speaking, however, two stages of Ottoman incorporation are identified: the early incorporation of the period 1550-1650 and the full incorporation of the period 1830-1900.
