ABSTRACT
The feasibility study, sometimes also called an opportunity assessment, is the first
large and quite clearly defined piece of work to be done on the way to shared services.
The feasibility study is actually not the same as a business case, which is the product of
the feasibility study, but the terminology is used in such a way that a business case
could also refer to the whole work of producing a business case and would then be
equal to this whole phase. Interestingly, the feasibility study terminology is used more
in Europe, where concentration obviously is on the purpose and content of the work.
