ABSTRACT

The most important objective of this and other associated legislation is the protection of life and, to that end, the Fire Safety Order’s various provisions are designed to reduce the threat that fire poses to human life. The Fire Safety Order, which abolishes the need for fire certificates, requires fire precautions to be put in place where necessary and to the extent that it is reasonable and practicable in the circumstances, and the responsibility for complying with the Fire Safety Order rests with the ‘responsible person’.
