ABSTRACT

The right of a private person, which includes security officers, to arrest without warrant for an indictable offence is conferred by Section 24(A) of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984, as amended by Section 110 of the Serious and Organised Crime and Police Act 2005. The powers conferred under the Act are as follows:

1. Any person other than a constable may arrest without warrant anyone who is in the act of committing an indictable offence or anyone whom he has reasonable grounds for suspecting to be committing an indictable offence.
