Reliability,fromatechnicalsense,isthemeasureofhowoftenasystemor acomponentmeetsitsstandards.Inthischapter,wewillreviewsomeof thebasicconceptsinthefieldofreliability.Then,wewillconsider humans-themechanicsormaintenanceengineers-asoneofthe componentsoftheoverallreliabilityequation.Finally,wewilldescribe howtheoverallreliabilityofasystemsuchasaviationmaintenancecanbe improvedbybetterunderstandingtheissuesthatinfluenceitsfailures.
