ABSTRACT
Abraham and Sarah are childless but God tells Abraham that he will bless Sarah, and give Abraham a son by her, with whom he will establish a perpetual covenant “to be his God and the God of his descendants after him.” (Genesis 17: 19) In spite of the fact that both are long past the age of childbearing, Abraham believes the promise. And, indeed, they have a son and name him Isaac.
