ABSTRACT
In the preceding chapter, I focused on the interaction between the State and the private individual. In practice, of course, most religious traditions have a communal element. There may be particular religious practices which can only be carried out together with co-religionists. Even if this is not the case, individuals who identify with one another may well seek to form associations to advance their common interests.
