ABSTRACT
Quality standards as used by many sectors of British industry today evolved from the defence industries. The Ministry of Defence introduced its own 05-20 series of defence standards in the late 1960s. These MOD standards were, however, only applicable to organizations contracted to the Ministry of Defence.
