ABSTRACT

A new social-psychological perspective emerged around the mid-1980s and developed during the last two decades: the rhetorical approach to social psychology and discursive psychology. We will use the expressions Discursive Psychology (DP) or Discourse Analysis (DA): they refer to this perspective which was introduced and mainly supported in social psychology in particular by the Discourse and Rhetoric Group (DARG) at the University of Loughborough (e.g., Potter and Wetherell, 1987; Billig, 198711996; Middleton and Edwards, 1990; Potter, 1996; Edwards, 1997; Edwards and Potter, 1992, 2001).
