ABSTRACT

As Project Sponsor you are very interested in getting the highest possible quality from the project within the cost and time boundaries. Project managers are, in my experience, also very committed to achieving high quality. Most take great pride in a job well done. The same is true of most consultants and contractors that I have met during my career. However, as previously discussed, projects are a balance between quality, time and cost. In the short term the most immediately obvious performance measures for the project manager and the project team are first time, then cost (since the final account will often be settled months after the project is completed) and lastly quality. Of course if quality problems become apparent during the project then they will be dealt with, but quite often quality problems lie dormant for years.
