ABSTRACT

Planning to implement a solution requires a combination of sheer hard work and creativity. Keep It Simple, Stupid (KISS) is a British Army mnemonic meaning KISS. Tactical Thinking is just a convenient way of packaging the obvious need to think into implementation, foresee what could go wrong and deal with it. A plan-grid is a simple technique for laying out a plan in terms of all necessary actions in specific time-phases. It is an organization and methods approach to planning in two dimensions: individuals or team and time. Mission, Objectives and Tasks is a hierarchical approach to structuring a project by working down from the top of a pyramid where the project ‘mission’ sits, through ‘objectives’ which together deliver mission, and finally at bottom: the ‘tasks’ which in turn, deliver the objectives. The ‘mission’ statement must be short and sharp and express what the team will achieve in a positive manner.
