ABSTRACT
My aim in this closing chapter is to contribute in a small way to placing social work research as it bears on practitioners, service users, academic faculty, citizens, and the welfare policy community. ‘Small’ because citizens, the policy community and to some extent the academic community remain on the sidelines of the issues posed by this approach to research, and because I’ll stick to empirical groundwork. I am drawing on five different projects over the present decade – hence the ‘postscripts’ of the title.
