ABSTRACT

In this chapter we describe the setting of Dhaka, and poverty alleviation in Bangladesh. We then examine the policy implications of our findings for child labour, marital instability, work disabling morbidity and coping strategies, child and adult undernutrition and morbidity, intra-household distribution of nutritional vulnerability, women's negotiation control and well-being within the household, female workforce and family, and lastly, managing shocks and stresses.
