ABSTRACT
The bibliography has been restricted to the most necessary titles. Innocent's theological writings will be quoted from Migne's Patrologia Latina (PL), vol. 217, except for De miseria humane conditions, for which the critical edition of Michele Maccarrone (see below, n. 4) is used. The pope's letters from the registers will be quoted as Reg. with indication of the year of pontificate and the number of the letter: for the first, second, fifth, sixth and seventh year the critical edition prepared under the direction of Othmar Hageneder (Publikationen des Historischen Instituts beim OsterreichischenKulturinstitut in Rom II/l/l, 2, 5-7, Vienna 1964-1997). For the other years, the text of PL, vols. 215-16, will be used.
