ABSTRACT

CRM is defined as the effective use of all resources (hardware, software and liveware) to achieve safe and efficient flight operations. Rational judgment in this environment has the advantage of more resources for both the acquisition and handling of information than we have seen in single-person crews. In addition, in most cases, the pressure of fellow crew members is toward rational decision processes. There are some cases in which this is not the case and the availability of other crew makes the situation less rational. In this chapter, we will examine the dynamics of multi-crews and show how CRM training and evaluation can be used to make crews work together more effectively.
