ABSTRACT
The focus of this chapter is on residential work, in nursing homes: but much of its content is also applicable to hospitals and to day care settings. The accumulating evidence of violent incidents in residential and day care settings suggests that special consideration will be needed of the circumstances in which acts of violence arise, and the ways in which to manage the establishment to reduce aggression and deal quickly and effectively with violence when it does occur.
