ABSTRACT
The criticisms of performance indicators outlined by many commentators,
including the staff interviewed in this work, have pointed to the failure to
place PIs within an integrated framework which permits us to use them more
profitably. The debate around the development of performance indicators and
the development of community care, with a greater emphasis on themes such
as individuality and customer care, calls for fresh thinking on the development
and use of indicators.
