ABSTRACT

This chapter describes work undertaken by Vectra Group on behalf of Network Rail. The principal objectives of the work were to establish whether generic human reliability risk assessment models could be produced which would be applicable to signalling operations and points maintenance, activities respectively. Additionally, the work was undertaken to provide exemplars of human reliability risk models and assessment techniques for Network Rail. As well as fulfilling the main methodological objectives it was considered very desirable that the work should provide some practical results. The work was undertaken between March 2003 and October 2004.
