ABSTRACT

Feeling that he has paid his dues to paradosiaká, he is now contemplating his own work. As concerns composition, he has recently composed a number of songs that he wants to bring out. Interestingly, these are not related to the music or even the instrument that he plays, but are best described as akin to the ballad tradition or so-called ‘new Greek song’ or ‘quality song’, roughly alternative terms for éntehno. In 2006, Sinópoulos entered the Greek Song Festival Competition with one of his songs and reached as far as the semi-finals; this was followed by the publication of a CD single, containing three of the songs (San Helidóni, 2007).
