ABSTRACT
The impact of the Second World War on Europe and the world was the crucial catalyst for the movement towards co-operation amongst nation states in the modern era. Nationalism has been and is still a potent ideology in almost all parts of the world but it has not prevented the steady drift towards regionalism and supranationality which has emerged as a prominent feature of the political map of the post Second World War era.
