ABSTRACT

The definition of original sin that I used above (section 10.1) called it a “need for salvation by Christ.” What implications does this evolutionary concept of original sin have for our theology of salvation? I submit that it makes salvation history more coherent, and more consistent with the idea of a Creator who made the universe all of a piece and functioning as intended from the start, needing no adhoc adaptations or repairs along the way, but at most merely a planned-for midcourse correction.
