ABSTRACT
To “invent” is usually dened something like this: to originate as a product of one’s own contrivance, or to produce or create with the imagination, or to make up or fabricate as something merely ctitious or false. So two synonyms might be “to create” and “to fantasize”. A meaning more relevant to this essay is: to devise something new, as by ingenuity. Devise?: to order or arrange the plan of something; to think out; to plan; even to contrive. An invention in patent law is the conception of an idea and the means or apparatus by which the result is obtained. For our purposes, therefore, we are concerned with originality, the beginning of something, origins, roots, and the means to realization.
