ABSTRACT
Many office town squares have catering facilities in them - food counters, café tables and parasols - like the ancient cobbled European town centres which respond flexibly to the ebb and flow of tourists. Indeed there is a strong medieval analogy: as we pointed out in Part Two, open space within the building draws people
together like the parvis in front of cathedral, creating an interesting rhythm of activity.
