ABSTRACT

On the basis of the evidence presented in this research, even though transport does not appear as a dominant concern on initial interview, it does appear as an important social exclusion issue when people are probed about their daily lives. This study began with the aim of investigating how transport impacts on the lives of people from different social groups. Throughout the book, the voices of research participants have been used to provide their comments, thoughts and stories as a means of contextualizing day-to-day experience of the transport system. By bringing the voices of those involved to the fore, the preceding chapters have highlighted the importance of micro-level individual experiences and contexts to the macrolevel development of transport policies and interventions that meet the needs of local people.
