ABSTRACT
Over the last ten years or thereabouts, ‘evidence-based practice’ has become a ‘cornerstone concept’ both of social work policy and practice – i.e. a concept that underpins the very notion of what policy-makers and practitioners believe makes for ‘good’ social work practice. Immediately, on reflecting about the significance of this statement, some questions flash speedily to mind. For example:
