ABSTRACT
Through-flow valves are an evolution from butterfly valves that have less hydraulic loss than butterfly valves. For cases of low head turbines with semi-spiral case or bulb turbines, gates of different constructions are generally installed in place of inlet valves. Figure 7.1 shows the approximate range of application of each type of valve.
