ABSTRACT
This particular day, Monday the 24th of January 2000, I had followed and documented Ah Teong's working day. It started approximately at 9.30 am and ended at 9 pm. At the end of the day, Ah Teong and Ah Hooi had been fully occupied trying to start a 25-year old modified Mercedes. After several tries they had managed to get the engine running but it would only continue to run if Ah Hooi manually worked the diesel pump. Through talking, touching, seeing, smelling, and listening they had figured out the problem, i.e., diagnosed it. It was not a serious problem according to Ah Hooi, but I suspect it would have been for an inexperienced mechanic.
