ABSTRACT

It is of course a question mainly for archives services which manage materials accruing from continuing bodies, such as government departments, and can therefore best be illustrated by practice in large repositories attached directly to an administration. However, even manuscript libraries can experience the phenomenon of an archive accumulation which arrives in two or more successive deposits, and sometimes in a series of deposits which are likely to recur an indefinite number of times.
