ABSTRACT
Because many maintenance errors have their origins in the work environment, some of the most powerful interventions to reduce error are those directed at removing task-related challenges to work quality. In this chapter, we discuss several environmental and task factors known to provoke errors and violations. These are fatigue, task frequency, design issues, housekeeping and spares, tools and equipment.
