ABSTRACT

In terms of the whole pantechnicon of implementation, testing individuals' knowledge and understanding and having the will to rehearse the process is the area requiring the greatest courage from a project-leader. Rehearsal is a form of deep play. It allows our intellectual knowledge of the plan to become a deeper, shared understanding enabling creative response to unforeseen changes in circumstance. The imaginative rehearsal is similar to the preparation of athletes for a major event, where they actively visualize their own behaviour, from getting up on the morning of the event, through to receiving the award and making a speech of thanks. The key is to open managers' eyes in the rehearsal and use all their abilities to capture and observe the process in rehearsal, then apply all their process-improvement techniques to focus on simplification and waste.
