ABSTRACT
We have followed some of the greatest French writers at their fullest intellectual and artistic stretch, resplendent with a subject matter which most intimately and ultimately engages them as human subjects. The most tangible result, I hope, is to have suggested, enjoy ably, how central to contemporary consciousness and self-understanding has been the motif of deciphering Eros.
