ABSTRACT

My interest in Lewis Carroll can be dated to 1998, the centenary of his death, when I attended a conference entitled the Lewis Carroll Phenomenon at Cardiff University. The distinction of the speakers, the number of different countries represented and the range of the papers given all testified to the importance of Lewis Carroll and his continuing attraction to scholars in several disciplines (literature, mathematics, physics, photography) as well as his appeal to ordinary readers and enthusiasts, such as members of the Lewis Carroll Society.
