ABSTRACT
Land use and land cover change can be a major threat to biodiversity as result of the destruction of the natural vegetation and the fragmentation or isolation of nature areas (Verburg et al. 2006). Therefore, a good understanding of land use development dynamics and processes that cause land use changes is essential.
