ABSTRACT
Safety saves lives, injury and lost production. A generous welfare package generates high morale and high productivity. To offer both is seen by some employers as an unnecessary expense and reduced to the minimum possible. However a careful look at certain major High Street retailers will show that time, effort and money spent on staff care is not wasted.
