ABSTRACT

It was with no small concern that I lately heard of the serious apprehensions you begin to entertain for your character as a Gentleman, and the singularity of your situation in the house of Commons – by getting out of debt. The Circumstance is awkward enough, no doubt, for a man of fashion, a Legislator, and a Patriot; and were not your other claims so numerous, and well founded, might justly give you some alarm.1
