Divorce/Maintenance and Support 1. The Problem Isabelle and Ferdinand were married in the Philippines in 1980. Isabelle was 20 and Ferdinand was 30. They have three children and the youngest, Gloria, is 17 and still lives at home. Isabelle took care of the home and the family and Ferdinand supported them through his government job. When her youngest daughter was in middle school, Isabelle decided that she would like to work as a legal secretary and told Ferdinand about a training program she had seen advertised on television. Ferdinand said that he was perfectly capable of providing for his family and that he would prefer if she did not work outside the home. She deferred to his wishes.
