ABSTRACT
This Chapter addresses the rights of the family unit itself. First, the family is entitled to affirmative assistance from the State with respect to support, social security, and health care. Second, the family is entitled to privacy, to be left alone. That is, the State cannot interfere with the private life of the family. This right may conflict with human rights of individuals within the family, however, especially women and children.
