Strategies for Protecting Environmental Quality in the Spatial Planning Law of Austria

During the 1990s, measures taken to promote environmental conservation have become increasingly important in Austria. Based on a change of values in society which is expressed by a growing sensitivity of large parts of the population towards pollution, conservation regulations have found their way into law on the federal and state levels (Davy, 1996, p. 194; Pernthaler and Fend, 1989, p. 147).
