ABSTRACT
During my research, as I listened to my research colleagues telling me about their experiences, and as I reflected on what they said, on my own experiences and the words of writers in several relevant fields, I gradually built up a picture, a tentative model of the various elements that come into play as we convert experience into lessons, concepts, or generalized ways of behaving which we can use in the future.
