Themainpurposeofthisbookwillbetoexaminetheprincipleofindividualduty fromanumberofdifferentperspectives,includinghistory,thelaw(both internationalandnational),philosophy,jurisprudence,religion,ethics,socialism andculturalrelativism.Foralongtimenationallegalsystemshaverecognisedand enforcedintheirconstitutionsandordinarylegislationvariousdutieswhich citizensowetotheirownfamilies,thecommunitiesinwhichtheyresideandtheir country.Suchdutiesincludethedutytopaytaxes,thedutytoprovide maintenanceandabasiceducationforone'schildren,thedutytoundertake militaryserviceforaspecifiedperiodandthedutytoobeytheconstitutionand otherlaws.
